Self-care activities you can start this Spring
Get in shape with your favorite physical activity
Spring is the best time to shed off some unhealthy habits we may have developed during winter. But you don’t have to be too hard on yourself, we are living through a pandemic after all. Start with simple activities like walking around your neighborhood for 30 minutes everyday, stretching your muscles for 15 minutes before you start working, or dancing your heart away for at least 10 minutes a day. As actor Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, let’s party!” Whatever physical activity you would like to start and sustain, make sure it’s something you enjoy doing.
Step-up your skincare
During springtime, days feel longer and the sun shines brighter. You can’t help but spend more time outdoors and feel the sun against your skin. That is definitely wonderful and good for our wellbeing! However, that means you have higher sun exposure, too. Protect your skin from sun damage by wearing sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15. Use it every time you go out.
Spring back into journaling
There is always something about spring that makes us feel happier and more grateful about life. What better way to jumpstart this season by revisiting your 2021 goals and celebrate how far you’ve come? Capture that feeling by grabbing a pen and journal your thoughts away. Write about your progress in achieving your wellness goals in a health journal, or make a list of every sign of spring that makes you feel eager to start the day. Need a prompt? Describe your perfect spring day and write away!
Let the spring air in
Did you know that indoor air quality could be five times more polluted than outdoor air? This spring, make sure to improve the air circulation in your home by dedicating certain times during the day to open your windows and keeping your interior doors open. Getting fresh air into your home could boost your immune system and relieve stress.
Eat real food
The best way to embrace a healthy lifestyle is to eat real, nutritious food. This spring, embrace the habit of cooking meals and trying out new recipes! If you want a quick and easy approach to cooking, try a subscription meal box instead. The options are endless. All you need are a few fresh ingredients like clean proteins, whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. You can also jot down your favourite recipes in the Diet Plan section of My Health Journals so you can store all your meal inspirations in one place!
